Applications will remain open indefinitely.

Welcome to Awash's applications, and thank you for your interest! Before applying, please be sure to read the FAQ!

For new players, there is an application cap of however many applications will bring us to the game cap of 80; we will only be reviewing the applications received that fit into that number.

For current players, there is no cap. Please feel free to submit an application for your second character if you would like to; that application will not count towards the application cap.

  • Please note that a reserve is no longer required to app, as we will not be having a reserves round before application rounds any longer with the small number of slots that are open!

  • Please paste your app into the comments; do not link to your application. This is for the sake of fairness when judging applications.

  • Please do not delete and repost your application. That makes it difficult for the mods to keep count of how many applications have been submitted!

  • If you receive revisions, you will have 48 hours to submit your revisions before the application is automatically declined.

  • If your application is declined for any reason, you may contact the mods here or via PM for more information; however, there is no guarantee the decision will change.

  • Applications will be processed twice: once halfway through the app round, and once at the end of the app round.

Character Info

Character's Name:
Character's Canon:
Character's Age:
Canon Point:
Background/History: A link is fine! No more than 500 words if not linked.

Strengths:

Three strengths: 250 words min, 500 words max total.

Weaknesses:

Three weaknesses: 250 words min, 500 words max total.

Powers/Abilities: Can be bulletpoints.
Other Noteworthy Traits: Can they pick locks? Can they bake a mean cake? Are they blessed with the ability to remember the capital of every country in the world? Tell us here!
Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
Whatever they have on them plus one (reasonable!) item of the player's choice. Pets/Pokemon/etc can be brought along, and don’t count as an item. Please don't try to bring in things like jet planes, for example! If you're not sure, feel free to ask! Please mark which items are on the characters' person, and which item they're bringing in as extra.

Color: Please choose between red, blue or yellow; this can be chosen due to aesthetics or personality reasons. Please explain in a brief sentence why you chose that color. You're welcome to choose a particular Hexadecimal code if you have a preference, so long as it has not already been used in game, and fits within one of those three colors. Please do not choose a shade of green, purple or orange, as those will have a different role in the game!

Sample: Links to threads from within the last 6 months with at least 5 replies from you -- enough to get a sense of the character's voice and motivations. TDM threads are easiest but not required.

[ OPTIONAL ] World Aspect: Characters will be impacting the Town just from living there -- tell us an aspect of the character's world that you'd like to see implemented in the game, whether in events or setting changes! Please choose one, and give us plenty of information to work with (wiki links help too)! This is an optional portion of the app; if there's nothing you'd like to see used in events in the future, feel free to use N/A or leave it blank. For further clarification, please see this question here.

Sure thing!

• We'd like to see further expansion behind the idea of the weakness "can't read a map".

Generally speaking, it's more than just the situational awareness that causes Gran trouble. It's the fact that he's not quite great at figuring out, at least at the point he's taken from in the anime, what the next best course of action should be. When presented with segments of the sky map that's supposed to bring him closer to his ultimate goal, his only insight into it is that he knows, at an innate level that he has to follow it, that it'll lead to finding his father and following in his footsteps. It's that sort of attitude that, under the right circumstances, is really great for a team in that the confidence granted by its implications is great. He has a level headed mindset, follows where his heart takes him, puts his all into everything. But, at the same time, it's because of that very same attitude toward exploration that he can end up turned around. It's the acceptance of the way things seem to be, which ties in with some of his naivete, but really highlights another general flaw that Gran has. Basically, he's the type of person to believe in hunches rather than to sit down and think things through. If he's lost in the woods, he'll make turns that feel right to him, even if it's not the most well thought out or logical approach. So maybe his weakness, if put in terms of personality fault, isn't so much just getting lost, but an overarching inability to not let his innate feelings towards something go.

It also flusters him to no extent. What type of captain can he be without a sense of good direction, right? He wants to be everything that his squad needs, down to the core of his being, but getting thrown for a loop because of the lack of sheer experience he has towards a lot of the things he should've learned being in that role- can really be damaging for his friends. He's lived a sheltered existence up until the point he leaves his hometown, so things like understanding how to read a map or even basic tracking/survival skills are completely missed by him.

"bound to someone's essence"

Basically what happens to him in canon is that Gran essentially dies at the hand of the Empire in his attempt to keep Lyria safe (someone he's literally just met, by the way). As he starts to fade from existence, she reaches out to his soul and brings him back from the brink. In doing that very action, a power that she uniquely possesses, they end up intertwining their souls together. They can feel each other's presence because of it- like they're two hearts that beat as one entity. It's mentioned that if he wandered too far from her that there's a very real chance that he would die again. In game, I wouldn't mind playing around with a version of that sometime down the road- since he's basically walking around as half a person without her around. In game, he's probably not going to be quite right or in tip top shape without it, providing there's not some magical source or otherwise plot-relevant thing keeping him tethered to life. I'm really chill with anything you guys suggest or where you'd think it'd fit in best with the setting.

Thank you for reading through the app! If there's anything else I can do to firm something up, please let me know and I'll be happy to revise again.

Awesome! Thanks. This will be the journal.

Noted re: his zombie status. It'll be fun either way :)
