Thank you for letting us know! We're still working out some of the quirks of the coding we're using, as well as running things as a mod team, so please be patient with us as we try to make everything look correct and accessible! We'll do our best to make sure that the coding works for the game itself, and to make sure that it looks aesthetically pleasing as well.
So thanks again for your tips and suggestions; we'll do our best to implement things as best we can, though it may take us some time!
We'll make a post on this topic as well just to be as perfectly clear with everyone as possible, but we wanted to address your concerns here as well. It definitely wasn't our intention to make incoming new players feel unwelcome! But we can see how that could have been how it would come across, and we're very sorry that it made anyone feel that way. That was our mistake, which we will try to amend ASP!
The reasoning behind not wanting to advertise on EMP is simply that it felt unfair to us to advertise further beyond plurk and word of mouth when there are likely still many people from the initial round who weren't able to to get in, but are still following the game in hopes of getting in this upcoming app round. However, if people are feeling unwelcome because of that, then we have definitely messed that up.
There have been a few things that have fallen off the radar a little, unfortunately, when we were setting things up for next app round (the TDM mistakenly not being on the calendar is a big one, for instance), so what we would like to do to fix it is take your suggestion and make a post detailing the situation for the upcoming app round, so that everyone is on the same page. We'll try to toss a post up along those lines as soon as possible to address all of this!
But thank you for bringing this to our attention, as that absolutely was not our intention; we're very excited for the upcoming app round, we just wanted to try to be as fair as possible to people who are still watching the game from the initial round.
Hello! Thank you for letting us know about the problem!
We'll be sure to bring this to everyone's attention, both with the end of the event mod post and with the monthly mod post in July -- we'll remind everyone about the FAQ and that readability is the most important aspect when threading on the network!
Thanks again for letting us know, and we hope that helps!
That would be something that's absolutely easy to implement, and we're sorry we didn't even think about it before! We'll toss that into the FAQ, and make a note of it on the upcoming OOC post as well that it's totally possible to put your characters on autopilot instead of completely turning them to stone for the duration of your hiatus!
Thanks for bringing it up to us, and we hope that helps!
Hello! We have a game advertisement planned for this month's EMP and next month's as well, so that people have time to prepare for the TDM and app round! You're right that things have calmed down a great deal since the game initially opened, and there are more available slots, so advertising is something we'd be happy to do.
Thank you for the suggestion and bringing it to our attention!
We would like to bring forward a concern involving the over-arching plot of Awash.
Basically, several players are feeling disconnected from the plot of Awash. However they are still interested in the plot, would like open opportunity to be involved, and would like to be caught up on what has already happened.
Although it is right for players that put in time to play out plot-related events to get the rewards of such events, how such events are working now is having the (perhaps unintended) effect of shutting out players who are interested in the plot, but aren't able to get involved. Recently, much of the plot-related events have been concentrated around a handful of characters. Players, and characters, who are not involved with that handful of participants won’t even know that plot elements are available to be discovered. Events have been played out in generic catch-all posts, which are easily overlooked as a place to find plot elements, especially if you don’t know that said character is involved with plot.
The results of some plot-related events are briefly mentioned in the mod posts, but it leaves many players confused about what it means for their characters. And the very brief mention that the plot-related events do get in the mod announcements make such achievements feel underwhelming and unconnected to anything else happening. It makes one wonder if progressing the plot really matters here.
Chroma is a small town, and there are relatively few people there. IC-ly, most of the characters could hear about plot-related events and other important happenings in the town through daily interactions. Unfortunately, OOC-ly players cannot follow every thread that happens, nor is every character and/or player able to read the forum consistently.
So we would like to propose that the mods assist us in OOC-ly in updating the entire game on the plot and giving more players easier access to participating in plot-related events. Updates through the monthly announcements are a good start! Or you could also leave a thread open (with a link in the mod's monthly post) for players to report other things that their characters did that affect the whole town.
Thank you for your consideration of these matters.
Hello! Thank you for bringing your concerns to us.
Awash is a player-driven game, and always has been. We're definitely very happy to involve as many players as we possibly can, and often request that players open up the plot information that they've received to other players. That said, we do ask that players reach out to us with what their characters would like to investigate/are digging into/are exploring so that we can get them involved and give them relevant plot information, as it's impossible for us to keep up with everything that's going on in Awash. Please don't ever hesitate to shoot us a message for anything that you want your character to get involved in, and we'd be happy to come up with ways for it to happen!
As for plot information, that's definitely a problem, and we don't want players to feel as though they're being shut out or not included. We'll set up an OOC post for players to share plot information with each other (on a monthly basis, for updates, so that it isn't buried or lost), so that hopefully all gathered plot information can be put in one place so that players can both get caught up in the plot and hopefully discuss ways to get involved with plot threads that other players have been pursuing. We also unfortunately aren't able to keep up with every single thread that's followed by every player in the game, but we'd be happy to post a summary of the information that's gathered in those OOC posts so that people can stay caught up on what's going on in the game.
Thank you for bringing these concerns to us -- we'll work on implementing these changes (both monthly summary announcements and an OOC post for bringing forward plot threads and info) ASAP!
